Intelligent Tutoring Systems are software programs being used more and more frequently in classrooms and in distance learning. These programs change their content based on user responses- so if you're struggling to get the hang of a new concept, the computer will "know", and give you simpler questions- or ones related to the specific concept you're struggling with. Sort of like a "choose your own adventure" for learning.
Some of the newest forms of ITS are using facial-expression recognition software to be able to assess student understanding (see video below).
So, in the future, when all teachers have been replaced by robots, we'll still be able to roll our eyes at the teacher-bot when they give us too much work and expect a "don't give me any attitude" comment in return.
